Codabar
Codabar is a numeric code with 6 additional special characters (0-9 as well as - $ : / . +). Additionally four different start and stop characters are defined. These can be used only at the beginning and end of a code and can serve additionally as data carriers.
Codabar was developed by the company Monarch Marketing System Mission of Pitney Bows.
Codabar is a numeric code with some additional special characters (0..9 and - $ : / . +). There are four different start and stop signs defined. These start and stop signs are used in our software as A, B , C and D. They are only valid at the beginning and the end of the code. They can be used to transport additional information.
Thick and thin lines are generated with our software as 2:1. This is the proportion. Codabar has no built in check digit and is primarily used for medical purposes.
Advantage:
6 special characters and the start/stop combinations of sign, which can be represented apart from the 10 numbers.
The disadvantage is the small information density.
Each character of Codabar will be represented with 7 elements (4 lines, 3 gaps). The information density of this barcode is rather low.
